Lynn Bushnell

VP of Public Affairs, Quinnipiac University

I was never a fan of fraternities until my son joined one.  My fraternity experiences in my own college years were far from positive, and I held that notion of frats until our son expressed interest in joining one here at Quinnipiac. College is such a time of transformation for students that it's hard to know exactly what contributes to a young person's development, but I am certain that Sig Phi Epsilon has had a positive impact on our son's growth and maturity.

It's taught him the importance of commitment--- to his friends, to his family, to the guiding principles of his fraternity, and to his own work ethic.  It's taught him better time management skills, which has certainly helped him in the classroom. It' taught him that his academic performance does matter, not just to himself, but to a whole group of people who are depending on him to do well.  In return, his fraternity brothers have been very supportive of him as well, providing a circle of friends upon whom he can rely. I'm glad he joined, and I'm glad he has developed friendships that should last a lifetime.

SigEp's involvement in the life of the campus is a positive one. They run one of the largest friend- and fund- raisers on campus, Hall Wars, which in addition to raising money for a charitable organization also brings together QU freshmen in friendly athletic competition.

SigEp's members are leaders in the classroom and around campus. They are actively involved in student government; in fact the last three SGA presidents have been members of SigEp.  The fraternity has made a difference with our son; we hope it will with yours as well.

Joanne Robertson

Asst. Director Admissions and Transcript Evaluator, Quinnipiac University

Both of my sons are members of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Quinnipiac University.  The chapter has provided them with the confidence and support that has allowed them to succeed academically and has encouraged them to move outside their comfort zone.  The young men of the chapter are involved in the Quinnipiac community in many areas.  The current president and incoming president of the SGA here at Quinnipiac are members of SigEp.

Sigma Phi Epsilon also sponsors Hall Wars.  This event raises money for Children's Aids research as well as adding to community spirit here on campus by involving the incoming freshman class in a spirited competition between dorms designed to build camaraderie for the new students.

SigEp has made a significant difference in my sons lives, as my son Dan said shortly after becoming a member, I have just realized that I have 90 brothers looking out for me.
